"SPIDERMAN- 2" is breaking all box-office records in the U.S. and is also getting glowing reviews. The film has collected $180 million in six days, and is now all set to break the $200 million speed record, currently held by the original "Spiderman" which achieved it in nine days. In this second instalment of Sony's top franchise, Spiderman battles the eight-legged villain Doc Oak, while dealing with his own super hero angst and love lost. A. O. Scott in New York Times wrote, "Spiderman-2" is full of bright colours, emphatic noises and elaborate special effects. But its distinguished features, I am happy to report, are strong characters and honest feelings." "Spiderman-2" opens in India on July 23 and the market buzz is that Columbia has sold the Tamil Nadu rights to Celebrate Films, Chennai, for a record price.
