Factionalism on TV

A scene from `Peddarikam'

CONTENT ON the small screen mostly derives inspiration from its bigger version. Given the craze for plots that revolve around mafia and factionalism on silver screen, here is a serial, which seeks to replicate its success on telly.

Shooting has commenced this week for the 240-episode mega serial Peddarikam, which delves into the murky and bloody world of factionalism. The gruesome killings for land, embers of revenge that refuse to die and cast against this motif is a story of pining hearts stuck on either side of the enemy lines.

Produced by Satyanarayana and directed by T. Srivinivas, the serial has Rajendra Kumar, Vinod, J.L. Srinivas, Radhika Chowdhary, Neelima, Lata and Susmita.

Foreign appeal

'Sanjeevani' moves up the TRP ladder

THE FOREIGN cast in Sanjeevani have been enthralling the audience with their mission to locate the mythological tree of life `Sanjeevani' on Gemini TV. Telecast on Saturdays at 3.30 p.m., young Russian actors Stephen, Anna and Harrison, join hands with local talent Prasad Babu and Sandhya in their expedition into the deep jungles.

The serial has notched popularity in just four episodes and if the talk is to be believed, it will soon be moved to prime slot.

Happiness' sake

QUEST FOR happiness is never ending. The more one chases it, the more elusive it remains.

This is the premise on which Alahari weaves his plot for the new serial Khushi.

Known for a penchant to lace his productions with messages, Alahari's latest serial targets the youth and their desperation for pleasures.

"Youth is a phase of life which refuses to respect restrictions while looking for joys and pleasures. It leads to disastrous consequences and this is what my serial highlights," he says.

Being made for Zee Alpha, the serial has Sri Varma, Narasimha Raju, Shobha, Seerisha and Sri Lakshmi.
