Making waves

JUGALBANDI OF rap and raga, tabla and techno. Sounds a bit bizarre. But they seem to master this genre of music.

The musician duo of Mayur Nagvekar and Udyan Sagar of the group Bandish Projekt is on a roll with their album Bhor making waves with its music video featuring Isha Koppikar adding the requisite spice. While Mayur took to the tabla from an early age, Udyan, a computer programmer, says he started dabbling with music when "I discovered I could sample and mix sounds."

Bandish Projekt is formed out of a balance between new and old, electronic sounds and classical, yesterday and today. "We blend modernity with tradition. We don't meddle with classical. We just add some funky tunes," chips in Udyan.

Their maiden album Bhor is creating waves in the industry. Mayur's father inspired him to do the main Bhor track. International standards in the technical aspects of the music set the band apart from the rest. A band all set to give Indipop a facelift .
