Life is too short to plug away at something you do not enjoy. You can have a meaningful and rewarding career too, provided you do a proper home work, says P. SUJATHA VARMA

YOU ARE sure to unleash the child in you once you enter the wonderland of Brooks, a sleek showroom on Mahatma Gandhi Road which has turned the cynosure of all eyes since the past three days.
Doing what you like is freedom and liking what you do is happiness. Perhaps taking note of this key factor, the Brooks has decided to teach children of tender age how to revel in their childhood. The five-day exhibition of the pre-school playthings which commenced on the top floor of the shop on July 14, is drawing good response.
"Though this is the first time we made an attempt to publicise the products available in the showroom, I feel the purpose has been served,'' says the owner, B. Ramesh Kumar, with a sense of satisfaction. Owners of pre-schools that thronged his showroom include those coming from Guntur, Kakinada, Eluru, Amalapuram and Jaggayyapeta.
A child's psyche may be something hard to understand for parents at times. The elders might be often baffled and feel stumped at their behaviour. But, there is no need to feel that way any more because the answers are at hand. Amply demonstrating this to the confused parents were the New Student Book Centre and Om Art Print who jointly organised a unique two-day expo of play school products and educational aids at Sri Vidya Sadan, for children belonging to the kindergarten to the post-graduate level.
Parents have realised that their kids need time and space which in turn helps them grow as complete individuals. The organisers provided endless options to children of all age groups for, ater all, nobody can grow into an intelligent being just by fluke.
Scores of children thronged the venue with their parents. Srinivas Rao, a chartered accountant, came with an intention to get the feel of the latest in the education sector. But his son, who grabbed a colourful ride-on, forced him to carry it home. And just when he was planning to leave the place, a bulky book on President Kalam caught his attention and he ended up thrusting it in his bag. ''They are not very expensive, but add to your knowledge. That's the best part of it,'' says he.
Delightful things in vibrant colours on display and waiting to be lapped up by you include fabulous wooden toys, classroom decoration items, play group equipment and indoor play equipment. The grown-ups can grab the maps, charts, globes, models and other scientific learning products.
The exhibition also has a wide range of equipment to cater to the needs of parents, teachers, students, model schools, play schools kinder gartens, baby care centres, Montessories and educational institutions.
