Inane trip

Ballistic: Ecks Vs Sever (English)
Cast: Antonio Banderas, Lucy Liu
Director: Kaos

THERE ARE reasons some games do not make it to the movies and watching Ballistic: Ecks Vs Sever (which is second rate game to begin with) tells you why. The movie is incredibly silly and it is mystifying how actors like Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu chose to associate with such a half-baked project. The film begins with the kidnapping of little boy by a hooded martial arts expert who throws back her hood to reveal herself as rogue secret agent Sever. She is the ultimate killing machine who does not even bother to tie her hair up as she goes chitty, chitty, bang, bang at all and sundry. Sever turned rogue because her boss is a total low life called Gant who is out to create an even better assassination tool that does the job by the push of a button - he does not obviously care for Sever's hair style.

The kidnapped boy is Gant's son and he carries the killing machine prototype in his body. On the other side is moody pill popping chain-smoking retired FBI agent Ecks. He is upset with the world, as his wife is dead. But wonder of wonders she is not dead and Gant knows all so Ecks and Sever get together not before bringing down city blocks and cars with totally inane chases. The movie has no redeeming factors and all those billowing trench coat scissor kicks make the Matrix movies look like minor classics. The saving grace is the immaculately turned out carefully tousled Banderas who has colour coordinated his stubble and his suits. At least someone had fun.
