Third time unlucky

NEVER SAY die appears to be the spirit of the Secunderabad Cantonment MLA, G. Sayanna. Elected for the third time from the constituency on a Telugu Desam ticket, Sayanna's `area of influence' includes part of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, Cantonment Board and a couple of municipalities.

Instead of making him powerful, it has only lead to protocol problems and bureaucratic delays in taking up any work in his constituency. The MLA has been pressing the State Government to take over at least the civilian areas of Cantonment Board to provide better amenities to the people but the Defence Ministry has rejected the idea outright citing security concerns.

That has not stopped Sayanna from trying. For the third time, he posed a question to the State Government giving an account of problems in the area in the Legislative Assembly and the concerned Minister's answer has not changed over the years. It surely must be a case of déjà vu for Sayanna!
