Offbeat theme

MOST MALAYALAM directors are adept at mixing offbeat themes within the beaten track. Kakka Karumban is the latest in this genre.

Directed by M.A. Venu, it is a love story with a difference. The hero is as dark as a crow. And the title when translated means just that. "The hero in the film is dark with a mole on his chin. As a child, he has a very miserable life. After his mother's death, he is ill treated by his stepmother and is finally forced to fend for himself, left on the streets. This young man with a miserable past one day meets the heroine. He falls in love with her unfolding many incidents of intrigue," says the director.

Siddharth plays the hero Rameshan while Vellinakshtram fame Meenakshi is cast as Meenakshi, the heroine. M.L.N.
