Focus on youth

Three films to be screened at Max Mueller Bhavan will deal with youth and their problems

MAX MUELLER Bhavan in collaboration with the ICA Foundation is screening films that revolve round youth, their problems, physical and psychological. The films to be screened are "Klassenfahrt", "Bungalow" and "Herz im Kopf" on August 6, 13 and 20, 6.30 p.m. at Max Mueller Bhavan.

"Klassenfahrt", to be screened on August 6, tells the story of a group of youngsters who go on an outing to a Polish seaside resort. Here, the shy Ronnie, one in the group, and a Polish youngster vie for a girl's (named Isa) attention. Their rivalry comes to a tragic end in a test of courage. The Polish youth drowns and his death could separate Isa and Ronnie...

In "Bungalow" (August 13), Paul deserts the Army and returns to his parents' bungalow where he meets his elder brother with a Danish girl friend. While Paul neither returns to the Army nor evinces interest in his girl friend, he finds the Danish girl more interesting. In the end, he lets the military police take him back to the barracks.

"Herz im Kopf" (August 20) is the tale of Jacob, an adolescent school dropout, who returns to Frankfurt where his sister lives. Jacob meets old friends and gets to know the Polish au pair Wanda and falls in love with her. But he has an argument with Wanda's folks and she is compelled to leave. The rest of the plot deals with how Jacob and Wanda decide to remain together.
