Exhilarating!
The picture in your paper ("The beckoning bulls", July 26) does not show a single woman. I would like all the wives/female friends of these members to know that I have along with my daughter accompanied my husband on many a long motorbike trip. Don't believe, no matter what men say, that long rides are uncomfortable/unsuitable for women or worse that you are too old. I am 39 years old and my daughter is 9 and I can guarantee you that both of us have had exhilarating times on our trips (Be prepared to rough it out though). Over the years, apart from numerous one-day rides, we have done Kanyakumari-Kochi, Mysore-Coimbatore and recently Guwahati-Shillong-Bhutan(Thimpu)-Siliguri. We have undertaken these trips on a Jawa and the latest on Royal Enfield's Thunderbird. It is less bumpy than even a car. So next time, when your man is off on a ride, be there with helmet in hand and join in the fun.
