Having a wild time

Thumping hip-hop and house rhythms, plenty of food and lots of fun... that was the mood at Pasha this past weekend

Dancing amidst lather...The Wet & Wild party

This past weekend Chennai was taken over by "the wild and the wicked", and, predictably, the saints fled the city. Why wouldn't they? After all, the catchphrase of the weekend was: "Sin Is In".

First stop. The Pasha.

At its "Sin Is In" party, the dress code was red. Red was chosen "because it is a metaphor for passion." But, Chennai's couples seemed to choose safe sobriety to unbridled passion and take "the narrow and straight" path that "leads to Heaven." For barring three couples, all were dressed in anything but red. DJs Charlie and Sameer played sets of hip-hop and house music that were energetic and hard-galloping, and, of course, wickedly wild.

Winners for the "best-dressed" and "best-dancing" couples were presented with a rather tough option of dinning at one of the hotel's three restaurants - 601, The Aqua or The Lotus.

Then, the souls that were bent on keeping the night alive, sped down the bright East Coast Road for a "wet and wild" party, organised by Hero Honda and Kingfisher.

Ironically, (considering the theme of the weekend) six foam cannons were pumping out fluffy puffs of lather around the dance floor making it look like the Heaven that is encrusted in popular imagination.

But, the music could not have been more devilishly entertaining, with DJs Swing and Ivan spinning crazy hip-hop and house numbers to a crowd that was having a devil of a time, dancing in the bubbles.
