Introduction

Shobha Gwalani's Total Food Solutions specialises in arranging theme parties

HERE'S A wonderful package deal. It comes gift wrapped et al. No wonder it's called `Total Food Solutions.' The enterprising Shobha Gwalani plans every little detail for you, from invites to return gifts. Of course, she does the cooking herself. When I meet her, she is in the thick of planning a mehndi party and not only brings along the most gifted mehndiwalli in the city but also snacks and dishes to match. Just recently, she organised a Pokemon party, where she did the decorations, the return gifts, the cakes and even the games. I must admit that I haven't been to any of the parties organised by her but have tasted her food and really enjoyed it.

Shobha makes cakes, desserts, North and South Indian dishes, chaat and Continental food. Her innovative snacks such as cheezatos (cheese rolls Rs. 7 per piece), kheema bake for eight (Rs. 250) and paneer canelloni (Rs. 250 for eight) have been her hot selling dishes for the past two years.

I taste the tiramisu she makes with Mascapone cheese from Mumbai and find it amongst the better ones I've eaten in this city. "I was always fond of cooking," explains Shobha, "and so I apprenticed myself to an executive chef of the Taj group of hotels and got down to learning seriously." The effort shows.

In fact, even if you do not need her to organise your party, it might be a good idea to check out the snacks that she makes (eg. samosas Rs. 45 per dozen, tacos for Rs. 15 a piece and many more) and place an order a day ahead. For large parties, she needs a week's notice and can organise parties for 700 people. She can also deliver a single dish. Any wonder she's named her company Total Food Solutions?
