Exploring emotions

NIRMALA SESHADRI from Singapore and Neewin Hershall from Kerala are coming together to present "Crossroads" a programme in aid of Sahaayika, on September 5, 7 p.m. at the Music Academy.

"Crossroads" is a programme where dance meets music, poetry, film and visual art, where dancers explore human emotions and angst through mathematical forms.

The theme... Man and woman are so different in form and shape; they take different paths and have different emotions; yet they meet or rather they have to. Is there a possibility for a better understanding by exploring and analysing the intrinsic nature of men and women? To understand is to change, to change is to move forward, to move forward is to move away from stagnation. All these ideas take shape in dance. About Sahaayika, it is a charitable trust (registered in August 2003) dedicated to providing support, financial as well as emotional, to those afflicted with cancer. Sahaayika believes in helping through companionship. It has so far supported 130 patients at the Cancer Institute, Adyar, which subsidises the cost of the treatment for those from the economically weaker sections. Sahaayika is located at AH 60, New no. 32, 5th Street, Anna Nagar, ph: 52171217/26212126.
