REMEMBER THE last time you dressed your best for a party, but burst into tears when you saw the pictures? Could happen again if you haven't picked up the techniques of matching the right eye shadow with the dress colour. Or if the foundation used gives you a unique look in all the pictures white-faced but tan neck downwards!
First of its kind
Zarina Nissar, Bangalore's hair and make-up expert, has an answer to such problems. She has opened a studio, the first of its kind in Bangalore, where she gives a range of makeovers to clients, even minutes before a party.
"Nothing like this exists in Bangalore now," says Zarina. "Clients can walk in completely dressed for the party and leave with their make-up on, looking beautiful and confident."
Operating out of a beauty studio off Ulsoor Road, Zarina gives clients a range of makeovers at her studio.
Some of these are the hi-fashion look where one can be funky using colours like yellow, green, and orange which one wouldn't use otherwise; the party look, which is coordinated with the outfit and varies from being subtle for the day and glamorous for the night; personal makeovers for men and women; wedding make-up for the bride and groom; or simply a basic light makeover for the day (base, eye shadow, blush and lipstick).
While applying make-up, Zarina uses different styling for ethnic, Indo-Western, and Western outfits and sometimes caters to theme looks also. "For parties with a Sixties and Seventies theme, I have done the Mumtaz look with a number of wigs which I have and have even draped the sari, with eyes made up Sharmila Tagore style."
Zarina offers various make-up techniques, which include air-brushed make-up for clients with a sensitive skin. She is open to using cosmetics of the customer's choice if they are particular about it.
She also uses special techniques for concealing flaws such as acme marks or a broad nose or forehead and so on. Says Zarina: "People don't know how to match the right eye shadow with the dress. I do make-up for photography, which ensures that someone looks good in person and in the photos too."
Having trained in Singapore and done courses in fashion, glamour, photographic and bridal make-up, Zarina has had over a decade of experience in working on assignments such as photo shoots, television and print advertisements, music videos, fashion shows, launches, and other shows.
Consultation
While Zarina is currently taking clients at the studio by appointment only, she will also be offering a free consultation on skin care and techniques to revitalise the skin internally and externally.
The woman who doesn't cut hair, but gives the client a complete makeover, gives some tips: "Currently, light pinks, nudes, and clear lip gloss are in for the day; and for the hair, it is worn up or in curls and waves."
Zarina's makeovers start at Rs. 500. She can be contacted on 98450-52773.
