Ghulam Ali coming to Chennai

THE MAN behind timeless ghazals such as "Chupke chupke", "Hungama hai kyon" and "Kal chaudhvi ki rath", Ghulam Ali from Pakistan will enthral music lovers in Chennai on September 11, 7.30 p.m. at Kamaraj Arangam.

Thanks to the efforts of the Rotary Clubs of Chennai Samudra and Madras along with the Ability Foundation, the internationally renowned ghazal maestro is coming to the city after 17 long years.

Ghulam Ali was born into a family with a rich tradition of music. He was introduced to the world of classical music early in life. After learning under Ustad Barkat Ali Khan, he started performing on Lahore Radio. His fascination with sher shayari began with the intention of bringing good music to an appreciative audience through the medium of ghazal. Till today his ghazals are known for their fine poetry. He has rendered beautiful creations of legendary shaayars such as Mirza Ghalib and Amir Khusro. He has also produced an album Miraz-e-Ghazal with Asha Bhonsle.

He stole many hearts in India with his ghazals in the film "Nikaah".

Part of the proceeds of this fund-raiser will be used for various community projects. For details call 24347985 or 98402 90929.
