Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa...

T-Series... Rs. 55

FOR THIS movie the director Atul Agnihotri, Salman Khan's brother-in-law, has roped in two music composers A.R. Rahman and Himesh Reshamiyya (it is rather surprising to see Rahman sharing space with another composer). Therefore, the music is one of contrast.

While Rahman's is subtle fusion, Himesh Reshamiyya tries to score within his usual parameters. The only difference being the last Go Balle Balle - a Punju `pop'. The two music directors have their own lyricists (Mehboob for Rahman and Sameer for Reshamiyya).

The title song Dil Ne Jisne Apna Kahaa, a soft and melodious composition of Rahman is sung well by Sujata Trivedi (she is joined towards the end by Kamal Khan).

The lyrics are not overshadowed by the orchestration. The song bears Rahman's stamp.

After listening to this the second one Bindiya Chamakne lage (Reshamiyya's) seems to pale somewhat. This and the next Yeh Dil to Mila Hai sound a bit similar. The instrumental version (Reshamiyya's) is no patch to the original. It's a different one altogether.

Zindagi hai dua (Rahman's) is sung by Madhushree in her saccharine voice initially (later on joined by Pamela Jain, Gayatri, Karthik and Raquib). It kind of reminds one of her effort in Yuva (Kabhi neem neem, kabhi shahed shahed).

Jane Bahara, a Rahman composition is slightly different from his earlier songs.
