Ch. Sri Meghana, a Std. V pupil of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukkunagaram, has bagged the Prathiba Balaratna Award of the Pratibha Krida Samskrutika Samstha, a sports and cultural organisation. The award was given away to her at a function held at the Prema Samajam auditorium last week.
Sri Meghana had participated in the district-level meet conducted by the Visakha District Roller Skating Association, for the first time, in 1997 and won a bronze medal in the below six years category. She subsequently bagged a silver medal in the State-level championship. She has a gold, three silver and an equal number of bronze medals to her credit.

An open house and a unique painting exhibition were conducted by the students of P.E.N. School on the school premises at Dabagardens last week. The children of Nursery and L.K.G. classes exhibited their talent in painting with their thumb impressions and palm impressions. They also impressed their parents and visitors with their novelty items which were made in the shape of different alphabets.
The school principal, Anita Pereira, inaugurated the exhibition. The headmistress, T. Vijayalakshmi, and the craft teachers participated.

The Vice Chancellor of Shankaracharya University, Khandiva Narayana Phanikar, visited Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan recently.
He advised students to safeguard nature and warned them that several civilisations were destroyed because of the destruction of nature.
