There is no doubt about the fact that media wielded enormous influence on pilgrim rush at the bathing ghats. I must say that the special tabloids issued with most of the newspapers, exclusive pull-outs on Pushkarams worked wonders for the district administration, in causing an abnormal swell in the pilgrim influx.
The revolution in the field of information and technology was evident in the manner in which news channels were able to flash headlines within minutes of the occurrence of a specific incident.
