Yes, the media wields an immense clout on Pushkaram crowd. In the present era of information and technology, media plays an important role in all activities. That the various tourist spots in and around the city got a facelift and awaited arrival of the pilgrims was highlighted by media. Besides imparting important information to public, it keeps the officialdom abreast of loopholes and the need to carry out specific works. The wide coverage of the four deaths in a stampede that marked the beginning of Pushkarams on the very first day prompted the public as well as the officials to remain alert during the remaining part of the carnival. The detailed information on the daily poojas and other activities associated with the event lured huge crowds to the place on all the 12 days.
