MADRAS MIDTOWN Round Table 42 is organising a supper theatre show "A Slice of Life" on September 18, 7.30 p.m. at the ITC Park Sheraton Hotel on Chamiers Road. Two one-act plays "Slam the Door Softly" and "A Need for Brussels' Sprouts" will be staged by a Kolkata-based theatre group called "Stagecraft". The thespians for the evening are Rohit Pombra and Madhumantee Kapani.
"Slam the Door Softly" by journalist-politician-playwright Clare Boothe Luce, focusses on the status of women as seen by men. Set in 1970, it revolves round the argument that ensues between Nora and Thaw Wald when Nora tells Thaw that she is leaving him.
"A Need for Brussels' Sprouts" by Murray Schiagal explores relationships in a humorous way. Set in downtown New York, the play is about Leon Rose, an out-of-work actor, and his neighbour upstairs, Margaret Heinz, a police officer. It explores the relationship that develops between the two after Margaret one day complains about Leon's late night rehearsal.
The proceeds of the show will go towards Round Table India's "Freedom through education" project which aims at bringing primary education to one million children in the country.
