Beauty pageants: yardstick for woman's self-worth?

Indian beauty

Beauty pageants assess women based on the Western concept of beauty. Indian tradition judges a woman's beauty based on Shilpa Kala Sastra, which is in total contrast to the Western idea of hour-glass figures. Women should never be assessed for beauty alone. The real self worth of women is reflected in her various roles as a home-maker, protector of her family and children and as an employed professional. Such aspects will help us determine her self worth.
