Beauty pageants: yardstick for woman's self-worth?

Curb vulgarity

We find women fighting for their liberation on one hand and also participating in beauty contests on the other. Women activists and feminists should protest against vulgar portrayal of women in the media first and then take up other issues. Beauty contests set a bad example for the younger generations. We need to be aware that many untoward incidents are happening in the country and morality is lacking among the people mainly due to crudity that is predominant in the media. Beauty contests are money making spinners for certain people. Such contest have no real purpose, other than mere exposing of woman's body. Beauty pageants have to be banned in our country. I would also like to insist that in our country all the educational institutions, government offices and institutions should have a dress code for women, wherein they can wear only Indian outfits and not provocative western wear.
