VINITA PITTIE has been with Bridal Asia since its inception and this year around, her daughter-in-law, Suhani, would be unveiling her jewellery.
"Suhani's jewellery is to die for," Vinita exclaims, every bit the fond mom-in-law. "It is smart, contemporary and trendy. "
"Her colours are phenomenal - lively and bright. Every outfit is a celebration," says a beaming Suhaniabout Vinita's collection.
Vinita describes her line as "Mix `n' match. I have saris, blouses, petticoats, kurtas, halters and odhnis. Everything goes with everything. It all depends on the wearer and she can create what suits her tastes. The fun is in creation. My clothes give the wearer the chance to create their own look. It is the putting together that is exciting."
"It is riot of colours. My clothes reflect my attitude to colours. The petticoats are enhanced with zari, zardosi, embroidery or cut work. When worn with a transparent sari, the effect is striking to say the least! "
With her signature style in clothes, jewellery and batuas and purses, Vinita has created her own identity. The clothes bear the Hyderabadi and Rajasthani touch. "These are my roots," she says.
Her line for Bridal Asia is not the heavy-heavy kinds. "I have made things for the trousseau, components which can be picked by people. I normally design for brides only on order. It's a case of one outfit for one bride. "
Her line is very wearable. "I make effective clothes. India is a treasury of textiles particularly the fabrics of Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh." Mulmul, tussar, matka, georgette, chiffon, thick silks are used in her assorted garments. a beads and cowrie shells used as tassels in the skirts reflect the Hyderabadi touch. Lac bangles (with motifs), stylish anklets (in wooden beads and embroidered ones which can be worn with any Western outfits like capris or skirts) and batuas and purses complete her trademark collection for Bridal Asia.
Suhani, a trained gemologist, is totally excited about her first show. "It is a lovely platform and I hope it provides new opportunities." She perceives "every piece of jewellery as art."
Both the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law complement each other with their inputs. Models will be showcasing their collection on September 22.
Vinita is full of praise for the organisers. "I trust the team totally. They will give nothing but the best." So do the Pitties.
