Too much to ask?

IT IS nice that MetroPlus now comes five times a week, focussing on local talents and events. Admittedly, in the milieu of a fast-paced life, lighter reading has better appeal to readers. Nevertheless, alongside, many problems plaguing citizens can also be written about with a punch.

In this regard, I would like to highlight the wretched conditions in Maruthi Seva Nagar area, where the railway overbridge construction work has been going on for the past year or so. I fully understand that inconvenience to the public is unavoidable during any construction of such proportions. Does it mean that the public has to bend any extent in the name of "unavoidable inconvenience"?

The road diversion and slow traffic are understandable. But, should authorities make the diversion road such that it is not a road at all? Look at the pathetic condition of this road and Kammanahalli Main Road. To compound our woes, the Banaswadi traffic is also diverted to Kammanahalli Road.

It is difficult to comprehend the role of corporators of this area. Is it too much to ask to make it mandatory on the part of contractor to make motorable diversion roads?
