Chords & Notes

TELUGU

Premnagar... Aditya Music... Rs. 30

ANU MALIK, looks like he transported his current success streak to the Telugu films. His score for Premnagar has all the qualities of a winner. An out and out musical, the film's track has groovy numbers that are meant to be played loud and shake a leg with. So, what else is unique of this album? Not even a single local singer is featured. Period. Perhaps Bollywood's music director felt comfortable doing the job with his colleagues from Mumbai. Anyway, popular songs need not necessarily have the parameters of a perfect rendition, which includes pronunciation. The songs are sung by KK, Sadhana Sargam, Sonu Nigam and Shaan.

HINDI

Ghungta... Universal... Rs. 45

THIS IS Bappi Lahiri's album. On the whole the album does not sound exciting. There's not much to write about. Neither the lyrics nor the music is inspiring enough to hear. Inane lyrics and repetitive music mark the album. Bappi Lahiri does not seem to have put in enough effort to make this album stand out. It is a rather pedestrian effort.
