Jungle stories
COMMEMORATING THE wildlife week, Sathyam Cinemas and Ecotone are organising a wildlife film screening on October 2 (9.30 a.m.) at the Sathyam theatre complex.
The programme called "A morning with wildlife filmmakers" will showcase films by well-known wildlife activists Shekar Dattatri and Romulus Whitaker. "Nagarhole - Tales From An Indian Jungle," produced and cinematographed by Shekhar Dattatri, follows the natural history and seasons of South India's best wildlife parks. "Thunder Dragons", produced by Whitaker for National Geographic, is an intimate account of the life of water monitors, an oft-seen but little known reptile found in south-east Asia.
The audience will also have the opportunity to interact with the filmmakers after the screening.
This will be the first in a series of festivals that Sathyam Cinemas plans to hold.
The festivals will feature documentaries, short films and feature films for various interest groups. Ecotone, a Chennai-based company, which specialises in wildlife-related media productions, is coordinating this festival.
On the occasion, NatureQuest will display and sell wildlife-related products. "Snakes of India", a book by Whitaker, will also be available for sale at the venue.
Admission to the show is through passes which are available at Landmark, Odyssey, Sathyam Cineplex and Ecotone.
