Beat street

A great deal riffs, lilting OST scores and special tour editions make for a tuneful medley

Shark Tale
OST/Universal

DIRECTED BY Bibo Bergeron and Vicky Jenson, Shark Tale, the travails of Oscar, a loquacious fish (Will Smith) and his brush with the sea underworld, evil sharks et al, also starring Robert De Niro, is the much-awaited film from Dreamworks. The OST of the film releases this month-end with numbers from Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Will Smith and other top artistes. Apart from music composer Hans Zimmer's movie score Some Of My Best Friends Are Sharks, the album features feel-good tracks like Sean Paul and Ziggy Marley's Three Little Birds, Christina Aguilera featuring Missy Elliott Car Wash, JoJo's Secret Love, D12 track Lies & Rumors, Cheryl Lynn's Sweet Kind Of Life and the Mary J. Blige and Will Smith duet Got To Be Real are some of promising tracks on the album.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Various/ Virgin

THE PREMISE: gunslingers in search of stolen Yankee gold, narrated in the `spaghetti western' genre marked by tension building scenes, minimal dialogues and a characteristic whistle in the background. Much as Sergio Leone's camerawork, Ennio Morricone's landmark score for this last flick in the dollar trilogy (after A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More) had its equal share in storytelling. Be it the first cue Padre Ramirez, Morte di un soldato (death of a soldier) and Il Treillo (the trio). Three decades later the haunting score returns — the expanded and 24-bit re-mastered version of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly soundtrack that also included unreleased numbers by Morricone. Fuga A Cavallo (unreleased), Il Ponte Di Corde (unreleased), Il Forte , Il Deserto , La Missione San Antonio (unreleased), Marcetta, Il Treno Militare (unreleased), Il Bandito Monco (unreleased) and Marcetta Senza Speranza feature on the 21-track collector's album.

One Day Remains
Alter Brigde/Sony Music

ALTER BRIDGE, Creed minus lead singer Scott Stapp (Myles Kennedy Myles, formerly of the Mayfield Four, who had opened for Creed in 1998 takes his place), bassist Brian Marshall, Scott Philips (drummer) and Mark Tremonti (guitarist, vocalist), present their debut album `One Day Remains' on the heels of their first single Open your eyes. About the album that takes its name from a long-standing bridge near Tremonti's childhood home in Detroit) "with this album, we are trying to learn from our past but begin with a different perspective" Tremonti says. Alter Bridge widens its scope and crosses a lot of boundaries including elements of modern rock, soul, and aggressive metal. Rock on dude!

Shangri-La
Mark Knopfler/Universal

EX-DIRE STRAITS singer songwriter Mark Knopfler is back with this fourth solo album, come September end.

The songs were recorded in Malibu, early this year at the studio that gives the album its name. Picturesque coastline of the tranquil Californian resort and colourful java lamps of the studio have offered their bit as inspiration during the making of this album early this year. Talk inspiration, Boom, Like That, the first track to be released, takes its lyrical cue from the life and work of McDonald founder Ray Kroc.

The Trawlerman's Song, Back To Tupelo, Our Shangri-La, Everybody Pays, Song For Sonny Liston, Whoop De Doo, Postcards From Paraguay, All That Matters and The Ambulance are other tracks that feature on this album.
