Amrita sustains her simple charm even as she rises in her profession

SHE IS still preparing to face the audience in a better way. She keeps taking notes while queries are asked at a press conference.
Despite facing hostility from various quarters after a rather unconventional role in Girlfriend, Amrita Arora seems composed and still comes across as a readily acceptable, cute little chirpy girl next-door.
Though the `bold' reputation may cost her some films, she insists that her problems have not been compounded practically.
"I have got a mixed response. It has neither harmed nor benefited me. Though I was warned not to do certain kind of roles that included Girlfriend also, I always go by my own conviction," says Amrita.
She agrees however that getting into the skin of her character in Girlfriend proved difficult. "I got into the skin of the character. It was complex. But I am here neither to set trends nor break them, so everything that helps me explore my calibre is okay," she reasons.
Challenging role
Amrita plays a two-timer in Rakht. Says she, "Playing something that you are not is sometime taxing on your psychology, but that's how you learn to cope with hitches." Amrita minces no words about her role in the film that anyway hasn't created any breakthrough in her career. If all the roles she has done so far were tough, wonder which one she felt comfortable with? She is ready with an answer: "Kitne Door Kitne Paas. This has been the most comfortable role for me in which I had been a glamorous girl, a little too rebellious, who has no qualms about her sensuality."
Varied kitty
Amrita has four films in her kitty at present and she is "pinning hopes" on all of them.
She plays the lead opposite Sohail Khan in Team - The Force, an action-love story. "That Sohail is opposite me is the USP of this film," she chuckles. And in Mahesh Manjrekar's Deha, she plays a model and wife of an industrialist "who is physically very bold but mentally very weak.
And how she manipulates before others that she is brawny, gives an interesting angle to my character."
In Fight Club she is a singer and a club dancer, while in a still untitled film opposite Emraan Hashmi, she plays a schizophrenic patient.
"This role was tough to enact and yet very interesting. It also helped me understand what a schizophrenic person and people close to her go through."
