IF KERALA chief minister is industry friendly, the Tamil Nadu Chief minister Jayalalitha who hails from the film industry proved that she understands the difficulties better. That she can relate to their problems even better has been proved recently.
When the industry folks met her after a five-kilometre walk and submitted a memorandum seeking certain concessions and to curb the video piracy, she immediately responded positively.
Video piracy is brought under Goonda Act with even more stringent punishment. She has reduced the entertainment tax considerably and also brought down heavily the fee for shooting in public places.
It is much cheaper to shoot in Chennai's Rajaji building and in Ooty, Kodai Kanal and other places in Tamil Nadu now. On the movie front, ace comedian Vivek turns hero with S. Krishnakant's Solli Adippaen.
Debutant S.A.C. Ramki, an erstwhile assistant to S. A. Chandrasekharan, directs the film (as a mark of respect he had added his mentor's initials to his name).
He was earlier an art director too for some Tamil films.
