Call of the wild

By buying a WWF product, you are supporting the cause of conservation

THE WORLD Wide Fund for Nature-India, popularly known as WWF-India, is the largest non-government organisation in the country dedicated to conserving and protecting Nature and safeguarding the environment for the past 30 years.

While conserving Nature is its first priority, to do so successfully, myriad issues have to be dealt with. Solutions have to be found to problems of change, and individuals and groups have to be inspired to work in tandem with the WWF and made to understand how important it is for them to become stakeholders in conservation programmes.

The fund's environment education programme and freshwater and wetland programmes have raised awareness and reduced the killing of dolphins in the Ganges. The cattle compensation scheme implemented by the fund's species conservation programme has checked poisoning and revenge killings of large cats. Other conflict resolution interventions are also being made to save elephants. The fund's efforts to find alternative means of livelihood have in several areas prevented people from over exploiting their natural surroundings - forests and water bodies.

WWF-India provides logistical support to government and non-government organisations and actively participates in disseminating information to society on contested issues and articulates its concerns on national and international arenas on environment.

WWF-India markets various products and the money generated from the sale goes a long way in spreading the conservation message. There is a wide range of products to choose from - calendars, diaries, greeting cards, posters, camping equipment and corporate gifts. Buying a product is a small contribution towards the WWF-India's effort to safeguard the environment and our national heritage.
