Talent hunts
IT SEEMS that Indian television is on a big talent hunt. There are six talent-hunt shows "Indian Idol" (Sony TV), "India's Best Cine Star Ki Khoj" (Zee TV), "Super Singer" (Channel V), "Item Bomb" (Zee Music), "Innovation Of The Year" (National Geographic) and "Harsha Ki Khoj" (ESPN-STAR Sports). More such shows are in the pipeline. The channels claim that their shows are unique, but the aim is to increase TRPs. Sony TV has tried to improvise the concept by having a new programme called "Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aye." The actors and anchors, who appear in various serials and shows, go to smaller cities and interact with viewers. And those who turn up for the show in these cities are asked to "vote for one Sony star they wish to meet." The results are announced later when the show is telecast every Saturday at 8 p.m.
