Arty combo

THE MULTIFACETED Nandita Das returns to Tamil films. And for the first time in her career, the arty actress has performed a classical dance number too. Making her debut in Tamil with Thankar Bachan's successful film, Azhagi (a Telugu remake, Lethamanasulu is releasing on October 1), Nandita, who made a memorable appearance in Manirathnam's Kannathil Muthamittal, is now playing the role of Tulasi, a music and dance teacher, in Vishwatulasi directed by the U.S.-based poetess-turned-filmmaker Sumathi Ram.

Born to a rich Tamil father and a Namboodri mother (played by Sukumari), is Mammootty (Vishwam), who is also returning to Tamil films.

The triangle is complete with Manoj K. Jayan playing Siva. An interesting aspect of Sumati's film is that two maestros, M.S. Viswanathan and Ilayaraja, have composed the music.
