Firm in telly firmament

JUST A few serials old, Pavani seems to have established herself firmly in the firmament of Telugu telly world. Her power-packed performances and histrionics have fetched her instantaneous recognition on different channels. One can catch the young actress in Chakravakam on Gemini.

Down but not out

SHE WENT in for a haircut, donned a new look and even experimented with her career. But these changes seem to have come at a wrong time for Jhansi, affecting her career graph.

The versatile anchor who has been enthralling television viewers for years together seems to be on the back foot.

The much-publicised J for Jhansi on TV-9 turned out to be a lacklustre affair and was quietly taken-off, while her Brain of Andhra on Maa TV continues to remain mired in criticisms and controversies.

Industry watchers feel Jhansi erred in agreeing to do two of the most popular shows from the Hindi channels in Telugu. If in J for Jhansi, she tried to do a Shekar Suman (Movers and Shakers), in Brain of Andhra, her experiments went awry trying to imitate the Big B (KBC).

The anchor may be down but not out. Who knows she may bounce back with her next venture.

Just another channel

THE LAUNCH was preceded with lot of hype. But the content has clearly failed to impress the viewers. Since it came from the popular Zee stable, lot of hopes were pinned on its first Southern channel, Alpha Telugu.

But few weeks into beaming, the channel seems to be floundering as far as its entertainment content is concerned.

There is not a serial worth the mention on the channel's schedule. One fails to understand how a serial like Khushi that thrives on sleaze was approved in the first place.

ETV on top

THE ANNOUNCEMENT of Nandi TV Awards had ETV maintaining its lead position this year too. The channel was followed by Maa TV and Doordarshan in the award list. Janani Janma Bhoomi reaped a rich harvest with seven awards while Sukhadhukalu bagged four awards.

Talent is recognised and awarded in different categories including, supporting actor, make-up, audiography and music but there isn't any award for anchors. Has the point been noted?
