The beauty of a team
Have you ever seen the Geese heading south for the winter, flying along the `V' formation? It is has come to light that as each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately behind. By flying in a `V' formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 per cent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. People who are part of a team and share a common direction get where they are heading quicker and easier, because they are travelling on the trust of one another.
It is striking to note that when the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose takes over. That is sharing leadership! Taking turns to do the hard jobs. When a person feels it is hard to move any further the teammate from behind should say, "Come on, I am behind you. If necessary I'll be beside you. You are more than capable to tackle the task." This is what is observed when the geese honk from behind to encourage those up in front to keep their speed. Words of support and inspiration help energise those on the front line, helping them to keep pace, inspite of the day-to-day pressures and fatigue.

Finally, when a goose gets sick or wounded by a gun shot and falls out, two geese fall out of the formation and follow the injured one down to help and protect him. They stay with him until he is either able to fly or until he is dead. Then they launch out with another formation to catch up with their group. This characteristic is very essential in a team. We have to stand by each other when things get rough. The forward march is not always smooth and easy. The will power, determination and perseverance will take us to realise our goals. Every firm or institution looks for proplr who have the sense of commitment to work in a team. The next time, you see a formation of geese, remember...
It is a reward, a challenge and a privilege to be a contributing member of a team.

NIE classes consist of a number of activities to improve our vocabulary and speech. For home assignment we are asked to search for a particular news item in the newspaper. In this process, we read newspapers daily. We also realise common grammatical errors.
