A period love story

SUMATHI RAM, a Houston-based Tamil poet, is the latest to join the band of women directors in India. Sumathi's debut film, "Viswa Thulasi", is a period drama, scripted, directed and produced by her.

Mammootty and Nandita Das along with Manoj K. Jayan are in the lead. The film has music by Ilaiyaraja and M. S.Viswanathan.

Says Sumathi Ram: "The film is a sentimental drama that describes the strength and grace of true love. I invite the audience to Sundarapuri, a fictitious place where the romantic story unfolds."
