Dream comes true

Going places: Karthik of Dreeam Cast

DETERMINATION, COUPLED with pluck and out-of-the-box thinking, is what has made Chennai-based modelling, casting and event management company Dreeam Cast what it is today — an agency that turns the dreams of aspiring models into reality and manages entire shoots, be it in India or abroad.

The company's latest dream assignment? Well, being chosen by Americana, a leading international food brand [known for burgers and nuggets], to make a Gulf-African commercial, featuring an Arab and Indian cast! Karthik, the man behind Dreeam Cast, says his company was chosen from among five other top casting agencies to make the commercial. And working with Tony Browning, director of acclaimed thrillers such as "Star Wars" and "Superman", was not only a privilege but also a great experience.

Karthik believes that the Americana commercial will be a stepping stone to more international projects. He has already done shoots in Australia, the Far East and Europe, though it was with an Indian crew. Americana is the first all-foreign crew he has worked with which not many in India can claim they have.

He describes the trip to Egypt, the location of the shoot, as enjoyable, even if humid. Dreeam Cast not only had to arrange for top Indian models from Mumbai, but also international ones such as Heba el Sisy, the reigning `Miss Egypt 2004'. Among the Indian faces chosen for the shoot were Raman Trikha, Mini Tiwari, Kamna, Vishakha Singh, Siddharth Suresh and Jyothi Gauba.

Managing a shoot in a foreign land is nothing new to Dreeam Cast. The company recently entered a mutually beneficial tie-up with Face-to-Face, the organisers of the `Miss Egypt' Pageant, for the promotion of Indian talent in Egypt and vice versa.

Back home in Chennai, Dreeam Cast has a database of over 6,000 models in all age groups, from beginners to established ramp walkers. The company's models have featured in over 70 commercials and 25 regional movies over the last 15 months. For details visit www.dreeamcast.com.
