Paint and pot luck
MOST OF them promise but few execute. And in those few, the Foundation for Arts - FFA - has registered its name. FFA, a non-government organisation that supports Indian culture and artisans recently organised a `Paint a Pot' Lunch.
It was an effort to promote education and save languishing arts. To try their hands on pots, vases, and plates, known personalities like Meera and Muzaffar Ali, former model Firoze Gujral, Laila Rajpal, Natasha Nanda - daughter of Rajan Nanda - besides artist Bulbul Sharma, Fab India owner Bim Bissal and others attended the function.
The different shapes and colours of the pots were fascinating. The beautifully painted pots will be auctioned to raise funds to provide education to children by opening schools in places like Khurja, Agra and Muradabad and to save the languishing arts of artisans.
Putting their weight behind the special cause are Sofia Blake, wife of the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S.; Lady Plaxy Arthur, wife of the British High Commissioner; Dr. Navina Jafa, Secretary General, FFA; as well as Vivek Sahani, Shalini Passi and Anuradha Ravindranath.
