`Perfect Husband' for charity

Poonam Dhillon with Karan Thapar.

ARE YOU the "Perfect Husband" Poonam Dhillon is looking for? Don't get excited, we are not talking about her real but her reel life here.

Yes, Poonam has stepped into the theatre world and was recently in New Delhi to perform in her first ever theatre show, "Perfect Husband" at the Kamani Auditorium.

"It's a comedy play in Hindi to portray the upheavals in the lives of today's high-profile urban couple, Mallika (played by Poonam) and Amar enacted by me," says Poonam's co-actor Karan Thapar of the popular comedy serial on Star Plus Hum Saath Aath Hain.

"Perfect Husband", Poonam describes, is a common story with an interesting twist where the husband is a globetrotter, an entrepreneur with an action packed work schedule, which keeps him away from home and wife. The wife, on the other hand, waits for her husband to spend some time with her. But here, the twist arises when her saturation point comes, the feeling of being ignored. Then she comes across an advertisement - "A guaranteed supply of a Perfect husband". In curiosity, she goes ahead and places an order for the Perfect Husband. The package arrives on schedule and life no longer remains the same.

For a good cause

On asking why theatre suddenly, Poonam replies, "To have an event to raise funds for the underprivileged girl children who always gets the lower priority as compared to sons in aspects of education and health. I feel strongly for these little angels as I too have a daughter". Though theatre gives "shivers" to Poonam, she never wanted to miss an opportunity to lend a helping hand to uplift the weaker sections of society, especially the girl child.

The Amity Humanity Foundation and the Gunjan Foundation are behind the event. If not in queue for the perfect husband, Poonam surely is trying to help the world become a little more perfect.
