`Halloween night'
`Halloween night' will be celebrated in different hotels in the city, this weekend. The word `halloween' has its origin in the Catholic Church. Its comes from a corruption of `all hallows eve'. `All hallows day' or `All Saints Day' is celebrated in honour of saints. But in the 5th century BC, in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31. The holiday was called Samhain, the Celtic New Year.
The thrust of the practices also changed over time to become more ritualised. The custom was brought to America in the 1840s by Irish immigrants during the potato famine. At that time, the favourite pranks in New Zealand included tipping over outhouses and unhinging fence gates. Today, even many churches have Halloween parties or carving events for the kids. After all, the day itself is only as evil as one cares to make it.
Taj Residency
Taj Residency will celebrate the Halloween night on October 31 at Lawson's Lounge from 3 p.m. Hyderabad' s popular DJ Amit and Vizag' s DJ Bobsy will present some foot tapping and exhilarating music for the crowd.
The Park
The Park will celebrate `Halloween Nite' on October 30 from 9 p.m. onwards at The Lawns. DJ Anant from Hyderabad will be there to make the people jive to his energetic music.
