No Aitraaz at all

EXPERIMENTING WITH the image is in vogue and the best scientists to consult for the role reversal in Bollywood laboratory are Abbas-Mustan. They changed Deewana Shah Rukh with Baazigar and Khiladi Akshay Kumar with Ajnabee.

With Aitraaz, releasing this week it is the turn of Priyanka Chopra, the beauty queen who hasn't done much beyond looking good till date. "Now I am confident enough to try out different shades. Here I am playing a controversial woman who knows how to get her way through," says Priyanka, adding that considering it is a Subhash Ghai film, made her all the more positive about trying the negative role. With Bollywood turning bold by the week, here Priyanka is essaying Sonia, who can go to any extent to fulfil her desires. The desired man is Raj (Akshay) who already has a companion in Priya (Kareena), another avid image surfer. "I don't believe in revealing just for the sake of exposure. I don't mind wearing anything which a young modern woman will wear but I have my limits and I won't cross them," asserts Priyanka.

Kareena, for a change is playing a simple, emotional support after some time. "I love experimenting and this one is an experiment in its own sense," she quips.

As for Akshay, this has been a pretty good year when he has consolidated himself as an actor who understands more than one meaning of action. His last release Mujh Se Shaadi Karogi where he stole the thunder from Salman with some stylish comedy is a case in point. Here he is a hapless character caught between two women. "I have decided to space out my action films. I am doing all kind of films and after Here Pheri I have become confident about doing comedies." Indeed, it is all about confidence, ask any Indian cricketer!

Fine but will Aitraaz hold a candle to Veer-Zaara or Mughal-e-Azam?
