The small screen Khan
Cezanne Khan.
HE GOT his name from the famous Russian painter Cezanne. But the Indian entertainment world often confused him with Hrithik Roshan's wife Suzanne Khan. And then, Cezanne got to act in Ekta Kapoor's Kasauti Zindagi Kay on Star Plus and it was just a matter of time then that he began to be known by a different name altogether - Anurag Basu.
"I agree that I am more popular as Anurag than by my real name. The role surely is the turning point in my career," says the actor. Donning yet another role in small screen, this time on Sony TV, Cezanne comes in the serial Hum 2Hain Na as Vijay Singh. While Anurag is the mushy, serious romantic always in doldrums, Vijay Singh is a flamboyant businessman, a pure flirt with a glad eye. "Both the roles are different but are equally interesting," he says. While Anurag is now back from his graveyard in Kasauti... , Vijay is soon to fall in love with "a lady of substance" on Hum...
With continuous high ratings for Kasauti... , obviously Cezanne is being noticed by many in the industry. And so, he is getting film offers now. "But I want a lead role and no less. It should also be good and substantial," he seems to have made up his mind.
Interestingly, after a few years of theatre, Cezanne started off with a film which never saw release but made him leave his MBA studies in the middle. "But then luckily, television happened. Though I think looks do matter initially, something like an identity card, but as you move on from one role to the other on television, you have to have substance in you to carry you forward. You should have the charisma to impress the audience to watch you day after day," says Cezanne. Riding on the popularity wave, he is also hosting The Good Health Show on Zee TV. And now that he has jumped into the sea and is swimming well, the actor has no qualms about "working 12 to 14 days almost every day in a month with absolutely no holiday."
"Even if I get a good film, I would request the director to give me at least 30 days," he says.
Let's hope the right ear has heard it.
