Healthy inside, happy outside

An occasional detoxification of the body will help one remain healthy and keep aging at bay

A HECTIC routine, erratic diet, intake of junk food, irregular sleep patterns, mounting stress, late nights etc, is a lifestyle most of us can identify with. This lifestyle results in excess fat ingestion and accumulation, which causes formation of free radicals that trigger off oxidation and augments aging. To delay aging and to remain healthy the body needs an occasional cleansing. This activity is called `Detoxification'.

Co relation between obesity and detoxification

Detoxification is directly proportionate to the level of obesity. Most of the fats that we guzzle are stored well in fatty tissue. So as we stockpile more fats and weight increases we are only augmenting the toxic level. The reverse is also factual. Therefore the ideal solution to reduce the toxin level is to follow a regular exercise regime. Detoxifying diets helps to flush out toxins and reduce weight problems.

Detoxification Schedule

When you experience fatigue at the end of a long day along you should ideally opt for a light diet and more fluids. Also take supplements like Vitamin A, E, C and Selenium. Ideally finish supper by 8 p.m. followed by a sound sleep. This is the fundamental detoxification. During a detoxification routine energy levels amplify and once the body is accustomed to this new schedule of early to bed and early to rise, we feel revitalised and rejuvenated.

Golden rules to detoxification

Drink 8-10 glasses of boiled and filtered water daily.

Have a high fibre diet with oats, almonds, pulses, rajma, chickpeas, whole wheat, and whole green gram etc.

If you are a non-vegetarian then feast on fish twice a week. Avoid coffee, alcohol and nicotine.

Avoid refined food like pastas, white bread, white sauce, pizzas, and potatoes etc.

Consume fruits and vegetables everyday in the ration 2:3 or vice versa.

Say no to food packed with saturated fats like ghee, butter, red meat, pork, paneer, cheese

Do not be addicted to painkillers, sedatives and antibiotics. Instead try natural remedies like exercising, cleansing, natural supplements like fruits and vegetables, massage etc.

Use stainless steel, porcelain cookware or iron utensils for preparing food. While using refined food combine them with fresh vegetables.

Detoxifying diet

Early morning-wake up to two glasses of luke warm water preferably with a little lime

Breakfast - A bowl of mixed fruits, but avoid bananas and mangoes.

Morning break -A cup of herbal tea at an interval of every half an hour.

Lunch - Vegetable cooked in 1-teaspoon oil and raw salad.

Evening break -One glass of fruit juice or vegetable juice.

Dinner - Steamed vegetables or cooked in 1teaspoon oil using ginger, garlic, tomatoes, onions etc. Raw salad. Consume before 8 p. m.

Follow this detoxifying diet occasionally for a day to flush out the entire system. Do not over do.
