An emotionally charged drama with situational comedy. That is "Hulchul" for you, says an excited Akshaye Khanna.

YOU MIGHT call it a habit or may be dawn of wisdom after some "ludicrous experience" for Akshaye Khanna as he declares that his forthcoming comedy film Hulchul is "far better than Hungama for it is plot-driven situational comedy coupled with emotionally high drama".

The film is all about two big families, their attitudes towards life, love and enmity in which Kareena belongs to one family and Akshaye to the other. Fighting all along, they fall in love.

"This is not a sequel to Hungama as many people are taking it to be, neither it is an out and out comedy yet it is extremely funny with a tinge of wisdom thrown in," he informs.

That the film is fast-paced with "a lovely story" is its USP. "It will keep you glued to the screen for three-and-a-half hours as Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi and spontaneous Kareena Kapoor will give you peels of laughter," he can't help praising the film evading all possible queries on his role and experience.

But mention Deewar - Let's Bring Our Heroes Home and witness the glow fast vanishing from his face and chuckle reduced to a moan. "Initially the film seemed very nice when it was in the process of making but when I saw the final copy of it, frankly I just couldn't like it. The moment that feeling hit me, I could make out that it wouldn't do well," he says. But ask him to be specific and he recoils to his habit of giving generalised answers.

"Actually I can't put my finger on one scene or situation, but the whole feel of it was not a pleasant experiment for me," he rues.

And what next?

"Only one film, yet untitled, produced by Anil Kapoor and directed by well known theatre person Feroz Khan. We will start shooting in a month or so".
