Going strong

HE HAS been around for a long time. And despite the influx of a whole lot of talent on telly, Kadambari Kiran continues to wield solid clout in the industry. The versatile actor who breathed life into a whole range of characters from dead serious to out and out comic appears on regular basis on different channels. He also walked away with laurels for his comic performances in two popular serials Evari Gola Varide and Gokulam Apartments and was recognised with a Nandi Award recently.

Kiran also turned out to be fairly successful in his assignment in production department and came out with a casting coup after getting Akkineni Nageswara Rao to act in his serial Oke Okkadu. ANR fans in fact remained glued to the telly as their favourite actor entertained them with his famed "steps." Kiran these days is associated with Yuva Bharatham on ETV 2 and will also be seen in Edi Nijam.

Quizzically yours

QUIZ SHOWS and Telugu telly doesn't seem to go together. Taking a leaf from the successful shows of Hindi channels, several efforts were made to copy them in Telugu but almost all ended in disaster. Surely, somewhere along the line, they erred while working out the finer details of the show including the choice of quizmaster and questions.

There is this show on a leading channel in which a participant was asked about the city in which the Nobel Prize is awarded. And the query that rolled on the screen had "Noble" instead of "Nobel!" On quality and standards of quizzing, here is another question that a contestant was confronted with. He was asked to name the Indian leader who is popularly known as Chacha!
