Bag that bargain
These cloth puppets add a dash of colour
Handicrafts and textiles from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan will be on sale at the Jawahar Bal Bhavan till December 10. The accent is on material from Gujarat.
Clothes in all the shades of the spectrum, chunky jewellery, leather and cloth bags are some of the items that are being sold at the exhibition. Whether it be clothes, jewellery or artefacts, each bears the touch of a master craftsman.
Handlooms tempt you to loosen your purse strings. There is a wide variety of tops, saris, kurtas and dresses for children. The price ranges from Rs. 120 to Rs. 3,000. There are bedsheets, bed spreads, pillows, cushion covers and mats for your house.
If you have a yen for precious and semi-precious stones, then there are emeralds, rubies, pearls and more. Those who like trinkets can choose rings, chains, studs and bracelets. The price of sets, consisting of a necklace, rings and ear rings, range from Rs. 45 to Rs. 2,000.
A separate stall selling anklets, bangles and belts is a riot of colours. Many of the women make a beeline for the stall.
Bags of all kinds and made of all sorts of materials take up a good space of the exhibition.
