IT MAY sound shocking, but recent studies have indicated that television shapes the character of today's kids and generation next! According to a Centre for Media Studies finding, "Teachers are no longer role models for students; it is television which is more influential." The study found that 70 per cent students watched only serials, music and film-based programmes.

It also found that the number of students watching education-based programmes is extremely small. In another survey, it was found that children are increasingly exposed to violence. In fact, a case was reported in Haryana about a five-year-old boy killed by his seniors, all below 10, after watching the Dhananjoy death sentence on television! Today's role models range from He-Man to Komolika of "Kasauti Zindagi Ki"!
