The musical beginning

M-SERIES, A unit of Muskaan Cinema Production Private Limited, launched their maiden musical album Putt Jattan De this past week in Vatika Banquet Hall, Pargati Maidan.

Ashoo Punjabi, the lead singer, belongs to Firozpur district of Punjab. According to Ashoo, music was a yen for him since his childhood days. Talking about his musical journey, Ashoo says, "In my school and college days, I used to sing songs in functions and got awards for singing. I learnt classical music from Nirmal Roy and Sunanada Sharma for about seven years." Ashoo is a true admirer of the Pakistani singer Late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his idol is Punjabi singer Gurdas Mann. Before `Putt Jattan De', Ashoo has lent his voice in three albums namely, Hello Soniyo (1991), Shame- Shame (1994) and Yaara Chal Do (2001). About `Putt Jattan De', the 43-year-old singer says, "The title track is a bhangra which defines the braveness of a Jat's son. The album includes melodious sufiana, sad and teasing songs. I hope the songs will be appreciated by listeners because we have laboured hard to compose good music."

On the launch ceremony, Ramesh Bajaj, Director, M-SERIES says, " It was my dream to release a music album for promoting good music. When I launched my company six months back I had promised that it would give chance to those people who have real talent. Today, the release of this album is a proof of the promise. With sincere effort of Ashoo, musician Vinay Vinayak and composer Shyam Bhateja and S.Mukhtiar, my dream has come true."
