All in the family
A TELEVISON channel and no Antakshari, is that possible? So popular has the concept been since Durga Jasraj and Annu Kapoor introduced it, that no channel could think of beaming programmes without an Antakshari in its kitty.
Maa T.V.'s latest Antakshari comes with a difference. The channel has made Samaja Vara Gamana a family affair. Three families are invited for the show and they vie with each other for the top slot. "Each team can have five participants but all have to be from the same family. Given the family participation, the show has shaped up very well," says the anchor, Raghu Kunche.
For the show telecast on Sunday at 4 p.m., two other anchors, Sahiti and Archana join Raghu. Sahiti, a singer, makes her debut on the tube with the show. So get ready. Come along with your family, sing songs and win prizes.
Crime on channels
TELUGU CHANNELS unfailingly look to Hindi channels for inspiration. Whatever gets popular on Sony, ZEE or Star is promptly adapted into Telugu and beamed at the earliest. The trend continues with the coverage of crime that the local channels are fully into these days.
Check any channel in the evenings, and one is bombarded with serials that claim to be based on `actual' crime happenings. Some turn out to be real gruesome and come out with vivid depictions of murder, blood, rapes and what not. They might be real life crimes, but can't there be some check on the way they are presented?
