CHORDS AND NOTES
Des Hoyaa Pardes (T-Series, Rs.50): THIS ONE is for those who love Punjabi songs. The title song "Des Hoyaa Pardes" sung by Jagjit Singh and Gurdas Maan is soothing to the ears but their voices lack clarity. Kavita Krishnamurthi has done justice to the song "Chhalla" and her voice suits the number. It is a foot tapping number for the gidda dancers. "Mauj Mastiyaan" by Sonu Nigam, Vinod Rathore, Gurdaas Maan, Alka Yagnik and Arvinder fails to hold the listeners' attention. Though Gurdas's duet with Alka Yagnik in "Tainu Pata" is worth listening to only once. In "Naa Ve Rabba" the two singers sound lacklustre. The score "Duniya Daara" by Bhupinder Singh, Simi, Kavita Krishnamurthi and Gurdas Maan is hummable. Just a routine album.
Bhaav Tarangini (Times Music, Rs.65): BOTH THE singers - Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar have voices with a spiritual feel, ideal for singing `abhangs.
The result is a superb audio tape with some melodious `abhangs'.
The introduction is by Harish Bhimani and Suresh Wadkar begins with "Satvik Akriti Shristi" and then gets on to "Vighneshwara Dharani Dhara", "Palaki Ghenar" and more. Hariharan takes you to a musical high with his rendition of "Satya Shristi", "Shambho Mahadev" and "Anchita Kunchita". Worth a buy.
