ANYONE born and bred in Madurai is feeling agog that Meenakshi Temple is one of the nominees for the "Top 7" list of world wonders. The zeal of Maduraites to cast their online vote understandable. But I wonder how will it affect the city? It is frightening to imagine the inflow of international tourists in multitudes. Will not the sanctity of the temple suffer by camera toting foreign tourists jostling with regular local devotees visiting the temple?
