Sampat Kumar revels in paternal pride that brings along with it a sense of responsibility and protectiveness while Satyasri is basking in the glory of motherhood, says P. SUJATHA VARMA

YOUNG, EARNEST and dynamic, he does not remember a moment when he felt that the magic of his job was on the wane. No doubt, there have been challenging situations, but he has been patient all through because he knows that the toughest moments don't spell the end of the world and it is our attitude that matters the most.
A self-motivated fifth ranker of the 1997 batch of IAS officers belonging to Assam-Meghalaya cadre, P. Sampat Kumar, the Joint Collector of Krishna district, is a person who is in control of his mind. If sharing his life with someone as pretty and wonderful as Satyasri, his graceful better half, is an exhilarating experience, Rahul, their li'l bundle of joy, has filled the couple's life with a sense of completeness.
Chirpy gurgles
Daughter of former MP and MLA, Aithabathula Jogeswara Venkata Butchi Maheswara Rao, she is happier than what she had ever thought of. Draped in a vibrant shade of green sari, her tranquil disposition reflected a refined culture.
The cozy suite of Quality Hotel D.V.Manor provided a perfect ambience to the guest couple to unwind and re-invent themselves while little Rahul ran amok all over the place, embarking on a journey of discovery in the entire second floor, returning only now and then to fill the room with his chirpy gurgles.
Strangely, Sampat Kumar feels energized at the end of an exhausting day. The very sight of his son makes him feel extremely blessed. "He has got used to nocturnal life, thanks to my late arrivals at home," he says admiring the young one's innocent charm.
Nature's beauty
Fondly recalling days when he served as a sub-divisional magistrate in the north-east region, where the problem of insurgencywas at its peak, the young bureaucrat narrated how amazed he was by the simplicity of the local population. "Meghalaya is rightly known as the Scotland of the East. One can find the nature's laid-back splendour in its true sense there," he explains prompting Satya to nod in affirmative. He wants Rahul to be either a journalist or an advocate. "I strongly feel that these two professions provide ample scope to make an impact on the society," he explains.
Marriage has in no way diminished Satyasri's desire to pursue studies. It has, in fact, broadened her vistas and gave her higher values. Having known and attained a blissful and calm state of mind, she is keen that others too partake of the good cheer. "I am doing Bachelor of Physiotherapy from a local college hoping that it would help me sometime in future when I plan to set up a home for the aged.
My heart goes out to the old and abandoned and mentally challenged kids. I intend to do my bit to bring a ray of happiness in their lives," she says with conviction.
She is far too young and homely but the aura of wisdom around her is unmistakable.
